What is apprenticeship at SupOptique?

For over two decades, the Institut d'Optique has been providing students with the opportunity to earn a SupOptique engineering degree through an apprenticeship. Apprentices receive comprehensive training at our three campuses while gaining valuable hands-on experience in industry. Upon completion, apprentices earn the same prestigious engineering diploma as their peers in the traditional program, demonstrating the same high level of knowledge and skills.

What are the advantages for employers and students?

Apprentices receive a salary while gaining valuable hands-on experience that closely aligns with their future career goals. As a result, they are highly sought after by employers upon graduation. The SupOptique apprenticeship program is a fast-track to a successful career! Companies appreciate the ability of SupOptique apprentices to make significant contributions to real-world projects, as evidenced by testimonials in the March 2020 issue of Photoniques magazine. Moreover, apprenticeships provide companies with a pipeline of highly skilled talent who are ready to hit the ground running upon graduation.

What kind of tasks are apprentices given?

SupOptique apprentices are trained to become versatile "systems engineers" with a strong foundation in photonics, electronics, and signal processing. They are equipped to handle a diverse range of tasks, including optical system characterization, image processing software development, innovative technology creation, and project management.

Are there 'target' companies for apprentices?

No! All types of companies, from startups to large groups and public laboratories, recruit our apprentices every year. The application areas are also very varied (defense industry, automotive sector, biomedical, computer science, artificial intelligence, cutting-edge optical instrumentation in research laboratories...), as photonics intervenes in a very wide range of processes and systems. In addition, since the work-study program is structured in full weeks, all companies located throughout the national territory can submit offers (more details by following the link below).
