Student Life At SupOptique
The Institut d'Optique Graduate School offers a thriving associative life, with twenty clubs, and seven associations catering to a wide range of interests. This vibrant community provides students with opportunities for personal growth through diverse activities such as cultural events, sports, social initiatives, and entrepreneurship.
The school recognizes the value of student involvement in these activities and includes it as a formal part of the curriculum.
The Bureau des Élèves
The BDE is a student association whose role is to organize events and activities for students outside of teaching hours, represent students, organize student support services, and encourage the development of other student associations. It is the beating heart of student life outside of class.
The Arts Bureau
The Arts Bureau of the Institut d'Optique is a student association dedicated to promoting arts and culture within the school.
It offers students the opportunity to engage in cultural activities throughout the year, such as musical theater, music, theater, photography, videography, and writing.
It also provides access to major Parisian stages through its ticketing service.
Finally, for an entire week, it transforms the school into a stage where professional artists perform during an extraordinary festival: Eidôlon!
The Bureau Des Sports
The Institut d'Optique Graduate School Sports Association (BDS) is a student-run organization founded in 2008. It is dedicated to organizing and animating the school's sports activities.
Available Sports
Located at the heart of university campuses, the Institut d'Optique Graduate School benefits from privileged partnerships, granting students access to a wide range of sports, including: Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Handball, Rugby, Aikido, Aquagym, Vietnamese Martial Arts, Rowing, Badminton, French and English Boxing, Running, Contemporary Dance, Climbing, Fencing, Fitness, Golf, Karate, Nordic Walking, Weightlifting, Swimming, NIA, Skydiving, Fishing, Diving, Roller Skating, Rhythm and Fight, Salsa, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Tennis, Archery, Pistol Shooting, and Yoga.
Role
Each year, the BDS ensures the school's participation in various inter-school sports tournaments such as the Coupe de l'X, Challenge Centrale Lyon, TOSS, and university championships.
The BDS also organizes the Girls Only Supoptique Trophy (GOST), an all-female sports tournament.
The BDS is responsible for managing licenses, providing access to gyms, coordinating with other schools in the ParisTech network and Paris-Saclay University, finding coaches, securing partnerships for equipment and jerseys, and organizing sporting events.
The Photonics Forum
The Photonics Forum brings together companies and labs at the forefront of optics, optoelectronics, and photonics, including image processing, nanotechnology, and virtual reality
This event brings together our students and industry leaders, fostering a vibrant community of innovators. The School graduates 150 engineers each year, renowned for their versatility. It's a valuable opportunity for networking, knowledge sharing, and exploring career paths in photonics. Companies and labs can also take this as an opportunity to offer internships, theses, and employment.
