Doctoral Student Service at the Institut d'Optique Graduate School
1. At least 3 months before the scheduled defense date:
- Appointment of reviewers and jury: Follow the procedure outlined on your doctoral school's website.
2. At least 2 months before the scheduled defense date:
- The doctoral candidate sends a paper copy of their thesis to the reviewers and jury members.
3. At least 3 weeks before the scheduled defense date:
- The doctoral candidate is to confirm the defense date with the doctoral studies department at the Institut d'Optique.
- The doctoral candidate is to make an appointment with the Deputy Director of the Doctoral School via their secretary (+33.(0).1.69.15.75.26). Upon receiving the reports, the director signs the defense authorization the doctoral candidate previously completed. It is then transmitted to the Doctoral Studies Department with a copy of the reports, for final signature by the Director General of the Institut d'Optique.
- The Doctoral Studies Department sends invitations to the jury members along with reviewers' reports.
4. At least 3 weeks before the scheduled defense date:
The doctoral candidate proceeds with an electronic deposit of their thesis (see procedure and conditions on our website:http://www.institutoptique.fr/Institut/Mediatheque/Depot-legal-des-theses-de-l-Institut-d-Optique-Graduate-School/Deposer-votre-these). To do so an appointment at the library must be made.
5. At least 2 weeks before the scheduled defense date:
- The doctoral candidate then provides the Doctoral Studies Department with a defense notice and a summary of their work for ready dissemination within the institution.
The Doctoral Studies Department is responsible for publishing and displaying the defense notice. It also transmits a copy of the reviewers' reports to the doctoral candidate.
- The doctoral candidate then sends a copy of their thesis to each jury member.
6. At the latest, the day before defense
The doctoral candidate collects the defense file from the doctoral studies department to give to the jury on the day of the defense.
- Note: The file is only submitted if the thesis has been deposited at the library.
7. At the latest, the day after defense:
The doctoral candidate returns the completed defense file to the doctoral studies department.
8. After defense (in case of modification of the manuscript already deposited within the time frame provided for in the defense report):
The doctoral candidate deposits the final version of their thesis at the media library, accompanied by the corresponding conformity form, for final registration (2 paper copies and 1 PDF copy).
