First initiative by the Institut d'Optique: training in cold atom interferometry
The Institut d'Optique already carried out its first initiative last December at its premises in Palaiseau. Around twenty Master's 1 students participated in a day of training on cold atom interferometry led by Vincent Ménoret, R&D manager for inertial sensors at Exail.
This training enabled them to understand the principles of gravity field measurement using cold atoms and to discover the role and impact of photonics in a cold atom gravimeter system. They also had the opportunity to remotely control a real gravimeter in order to acquire interferometric data in real time. The day ended with a discussion about careers in quantum technology companies.
