Founded in 1920, Institut d’Optique Graduate School is a Grande École of Engineering and a founding member of ParisTech. Its international reputation is built on the quality of the education it offers, the major scientific contributions of its research centre, and its close ties with industry.

With an intake of over 100 students per year, Institut d’Optique Graduate School is now one of the largest schools of Optics in Europe in terms of degrees awarded each year in optical sciences and engineering. It is also a major research centre in the field of theoretical and applied optics and photonics.

Institut d’Optique Graduate School is an institution of higher education and research located on three campuses in Palaiseau, Bordeaux and Saint-Etienne.

Institut d’Optique Graduate School is recognised under French law as being of public utility and is under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research.

Engineering students are required to demonstrate their entrepreneurial skills during three internships: a summer internship lasting at least 4 weeks at the end of their first year, an advanced internship lasting at least 11 weeks at the end of their second year, and a final internship of up to six months at the end of their third year and during which they must use the knowledge they have acquired during the course of their training.
